The Surf For Life Story

Surf For Life sponsors educational and community driven development projects in coastal communities. We achieve this through engagement of motivated individuals and groups who fully participate in the construction of these projects.

Surf For Life trips are open to anyone: Experienced surfers, beginners, people who are interested in taking up the sport and anyone who just wants to help out. The common point of interest of all participants is their commitment to contribute to the advancement of a social cause. Surf For Life offers an alternative vacation option that combines recreation with community service opportunities by  matching surf teams with various international destinations that combine world class surfing and opportunities for social philanthropy.

Surf For Life channels interested individuals into teams of 10-12 participants and sends them to help hands-on with construction, remodeling and other projects around the world. Each team member is responsible for raising $1,850 by engaging in personal and team fundraising efforts to cover all costs, including tools, building materials and a local foreman. Volunteers are responsible for purchasing flights to the nearest airport to the project.

This is a unique opportunity to experience a new and altruistic type of travel – ‘volun-tourism’ – that takes individual vacation to a new level benefiting local communities. To find out more details, please check out our Projects and review our Frequently Asked Questions.
