Community and Project Description:
Located in the beautiful country of Kenya, the Kithoka area is the location of our community project, and surrounded by national reserves and parks, home to wildlife that includes lions, leopards, and elephants.
Our in-country partners, International Peace Initiatives, founded by Dr. Karambu Ringera, began in 2002 as a support organization working with women whose husbands have died of HIV are often left with no home, and children to care for. It has now evolved to include the Kithoka Amani Children’s Home (KACH) whose mission is to keep orphaned and vulnerable children in the community where they grew up. KACH currently houses 38 orphaned and vulnerable children from the area (ranging in ages 3 - 24 years old). As part of a permaculture farm, the education center will also support women’s initiatives as a place for training. Our project provides the funds and volunteer support needed to help build the education center.
This trip offers a unique opportunity to participate in a safari in the Samburu National Reserve.
