Colombia 2020: Meeting Space Week 1

Colombia 2020: Meeting Space Week 1

Feb 2 - Feb 9

CANCELLED | Colombia: Community Meeting Space

It is with great sadness that we report we are cancelling the Colombia trip due to the protests that turned violent this past weekend.  While Santa Marta and the Carribean coast of Colombia remain safe and quiet, all flights transit through Bogeta.  We hope to return to this amazing country and to our project partners as soon as safely possible.

Minimum Fundraising Commitment: $2,500 including $150 non-refundable deposit

Each week needs 5 volunteers to run the trip.

Preserving the traditional ways of life is important to the Kogui indigenous community that live in the highlands of the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains of Northern Colombia.  In 2019, Surf For Life volunteers worked side-by-side with the local community to renovate a classroom space where students now participate in cultural classes. This year, Surf For Life volunteers are being asked to help build a Maloca - a comfortable meeting space for teaching, playing, and strengthening the social fabric of the community. As shared with us, the Maloca is a space where the spirit is liberated; stories, myths, rites and customs are shared orally to children, youth and adults.  Join us for the next phase of this project in an inspiring location!
